First Day Jitters!
I used to read a book called First Grade Jitters on the first day of school, to remind myself that the students were as excited - but also as nervous - as I was! The first day is filled with emotions - excitement for a fresh start, nervous about how things will go, a bit of longing for the pace of summer days and/or our own children, and realizing that these students sure don't know our routines like last year's... but most of all, we have the strong desire and pledge of commitment to the learning and success of each one of our students. As the superintendent stated, there aren't many professions where you get a new beginning, a chance to try again, or an opportunity to revise your plan for even greater success. So take advantage of this first day, this fresh start... and enjoy, dream, and Go Big or Go Home!
Good luck on your first day, and the upcoming year! I am grateful and honored to be here with you.
