Google's policy of 20% time - giving employees plenty of free time to work on whatever they want - is world famous for being the birthplace of innovative products - most famously, Gmail. At this week's staff meeting, we are going to be talking about the details for our Innovation Day, coming up on November 26th. While this day will have a little more structure to it than Google's 20% "free time", it will still provide opportunities for students to spend some time learning about topics of their choice.
Here are some things to think about before our staff meeting this week:
- What are some things I'd enjoy teaching kids about?
- Is there something I'm an "expert" in, that I could share with students?
- What are some things I hear my students talking about, as areas they'd like to learn about?
- Do I want to co-teach with someone else?
I'm looking forward to Innovation Day, to provide a little voice and choice for our students!
