Welcome Back!

The Happiness Advantage
Colorful text happy teachers, happy students, happy schools

We spent time last week talking about the importance of being happy, and the impact it has on our work.  There are many studies that show a correlation between happiness and achievement, including the source of the happiness that students report feeling in the classroom. One study asked students what supports their learning, and then coded the responses for themes. Students often reported that happiness, or positive feelings like enjoyment or fun, promoted their learning. They cited many reasons for their positive feelings, including feeling safe and comfortable at school and having secure relationships with their teachers and their peers. Bottom line: When everyone is happier, it's reflected in the attitudes and success of both teachers and students.

So it's our job to be happy =)

Here are some reminders on how you can focus on your own positive mindset:
  • Three acts of gratitude.
  • Train your brain to become more positive.
  • Journal
  • Exercise
  • Breathe
  • Express kindness (most important of all!)

Have a great first week back!
Be happy =)
